Moana Cake

Long time, no bake!

I can't believe the last time I posted was literally (almost to the day!) TWO YEARS ago!  A lot of time has passed and quite a few life changes have happened since that last baking post. I took some time away to regroup, I'd noticed that I had made baking out to be my stress, not my stress relief. My mind was wrapped around being perfect, and I lost the ability to find the fun in my products.

Since then, I've had time to relax, move into an apartment, and go through a whirlwind of bullshit to get to where I'm at now. Haha!

I happily took in this order for my coworker, Colleen. She's such a sweetheart and loves, loves, LOVES her grandkids with all her heart. After talking with Colleen about what the birthday girl would want for cake, we came up with a Moana theme as the best idea.

The cake is a plain vanilla with a vanilla buttercream frosting. It felt SO GOOD to get back into the groove of baking and dancing/singing in the kitchen while my music is blasting. I look forward to getting back into the full swing of things. I even have happy recruits at work who are getting accustomed to the idea of testing out my flavors! It's good to be back! (Enjoy the photos and please excuse the poorer-than-normal picture quality. I was in a rush and forgot to take the time to get better photos.)

Baby Shower Cupcakes

This year has been a hit so far! I feel like I've been getting orders back to back, which is very comforting! A lot of my orders have been word-of-mouth, which is actually how I got this latest one!

My lovely and extremely supportive Aunt Dawn has a friend who lives near San Diego and she just had twin boys last week. Since my Aunt is in another state and can't be here to help her friend celebrate the new arrivals, she hired me to bake her a gift!

This recipe was my first time trying out any 'velvet' type of cupcake. And let me tell you... THESE WERE AMAZING! I'm so happy I made extra!

Rather than the typical Red Velvet you always see, I decided to mix it up a little and try out Blue Velvet. And it was a total success. I love the decorations I made, these are probably my new favorite cupcakes to date. (aside from my coffee cupcakes, those will always be my top favorite!)

Little Man Cupcakes & Cookies

This week's order is brought to you by a dear friend, Ariana. Her beautiful boy has turned one! It's amazing how time flies, right?

The theme was "Little Man", adorned with mustaches galore and Pinterest ideas coming to life!

Due to eating preferences, this order was made to be only using Vegan items. This was a new task for me, but after tasting everything I made, these turned out great!!

See below for the Vegan Sugar Cookies topped with Vegan Royal Icing, and Vegan Vanilla Cupcakes with Vegan Buttercream. Enjoy!
Mustaches and  all, the perfect theme for her Little Man!

Starting the Cookie Dough

Even the dough tasted yummy!

Crisy, golden, beautiful

Look at 'em go!

I even made my own vegan royal icing!

Fairy Wing Cupcakes

Hello again! It appears as though I'm making good progress, posting something new every week or so. Yay!

I'm SO excited to tell you about these cupcakes! First, I tried new recipes (which I am absolutely keeping because they are SOOOOO good!). This weeks order was for a 9yo's birthday, and her mom also shares the same birthday! Two-in-one!

The lucky recipients had a Tinkerbell/Fairy theme, so I had a good chance to play with candy melts!

Happy birthday to Mailyn and her mom Tara!

Margarita Cupcakes

Happy Friday!

This week at work, we are celebrating a few birthdays as well as Month-End with a potluck! The theme is "Taco Bar", so to continue with the theme, I decided to make some Margarita Cupcakes!

These little beauties are made with a regular white cake batter, but with added Tequila and limes! Each cupcake is spread with a Tequila-sugar glaze, and topped with a lime zest/juice frosting. It made the kitchen smell like limes, which was perfectly refreshing!

Unfortunately, I don't have a desire to taste-test these cupcakes because of the alchol (I know it burns off in the oven, but the glaze definitely became boozey. I'm not a big fan of alcohol in any sense. Blegh!) But everyone who was kind enough to play as my taster said they were a HIT! (Good to know!)

New Business Cards!

I ordered new business cards! I can't wait to get them, so I thought I would jump the gun and show you all what they would look like! I have similar cards already, but this is a new orientation and color scheme. I also ordered a neat planner/calendar!
